Penthorum_chinensis, a
rare perennial that grows wild in wetlands, has a densely packed
inflorescence looking like octopus suckers, and it becomes more real
when in fruit in late autumn. The Ministry of the Environment
designates this uncommon species as an NT, and Shimane RDB lists it
as a VU. Bloom time: August-September.
