Trifolium pratense,
a cosmopolitan perennial herb native to Europe, grows wild
throughout the country. Stems stand erect, growing to 20-60cm in
height, with leaves generally having three leaflets and many
divaricate hairs. The leaflets are 2-4cm long, in the shape of an
obovate to oblong; many have V-shaped spots on their surfaces.
Flowers, red-purple, 1.3-1.5cm long, gather together in a spherical
way. Bloom time: May-August. |
