Dianthus armeria, an
annual or biennial herb native to Europe, was reportedly observed
entering Japan in 1967 and naturalizing in western Japan. It grows
to 40-70cm in height, with the whole plant covered in hairs. Flowers
measure approximately 1cm in diameter, with light red petals, white
dots, and margins irregularly cleft toward the inside. Calyx tubes
are 1.5-2cm long and have three pairs of bursae. Bloom time:
June-August. |
