Eurya emarginata, an
evergreen shrub or small tree with smooth, light gray-brown barks,
inhabits coastal areas, growing to 1-6m in height. Leaves are
alternate; side branches, simultaneously distichous, arranged in two
vertical columns, blades measure 2-4cm long, 1-1.7cm wide, in the
shape of an oblong-ovate, with tips round but somewhat dented, also
with bases cuneate, and also with margins shallowly serrated.
Flowers are dioecious; light yellow-green, 2-6mm-across bell-shaped
flowers set themselves 1-4 in a bundle at axils and bloom facing
downward. Sap fruit, spherical, 5mm across, mature black-purple in
November-December. Bloom time: November-December. |
