Phyllanthus urinaria
is an annual, growing to a height of 10-40cm, found in fields or
roadsides with red stems. As leaves alternate regularly on branches
(ramus traverses), they look like pinnate compound leaves. The
leaves measure 0.6-1.5cm long and are oblong to obovate. Flowers are
tiny; male flowers set themselves on axils on the upper portions and
females on the lower axils, with six perianths on either sex. Female
spherical ovaries have protruding wrinkles on their surfaces, which
are covered by brown capsules. Bloom time: July-October. |
