Pogonia minor is a perennial orchid species, terrestrial, inhabiting a sunny grassland plain erecting 10- to 20cm in height. It's not easy to find one out. Shimane Red Data Book lists this as a VU. The stem bears a single 3-7cm long oval leaf in about halfway position and on the apex a 1.2cm in length flower upward. The light pink flower is habitually not getting fully open, but it is open enough to be able to observe inside once in a long while. Bloom time: June-August.
