Pogonia minor is
a perennial orchid species, terrestrial, inhabiting a sunny
grassland plain, growing 10- to 20cm in height. Finding one out
takes a lot of work, and the Shimane Red Data Book lists this as a
VU. The stem bears a single 3-7cm long oval leaf in about the
halfway position and a 1.2cm long flower upward on the apex. The
light pink flower is habitually not fully open but loose enough to
observe inside occasionally. Bloom time: June-August. |
