Sanguisorba officinalis, a
0.5-1m-in-height perennial, inhabits grasslands in fields and
mountains. Leaves are imparipinnate compounds; the leaflets are
5-13, in the shape of an oblong of 4-6cm. Inflorescences are oblong
and 1-2cm in height; dark red-purple flowers bloom from the top
downwards to the bottom. The flowers lack petals, pistils are
shorter than sepals, and anthers are black. Bloom time:
