Synurus palmatopinnatifidus is
a height of 0.7-1m perennial herb growing in grasslands or forest
edges in mountainous regions. Leaves are 15-25 cm long and palmately
cleft, with tomentose hairs on the backsides. Flower heads,
generally light purple, rarely pale yellow, measure approximately
3.5cm in diameter. Involucres are spherically bell-shaped, about
2.6cm long, with sparse arachnoid hairs; involucral bracts arrange
themselves in many rows with prickle-like tips. Bloom time:
