Trillium apetalon (Syn. T. smalli) is
a perennial herb inhabiting damp forest places. Stems stand 20-40cm
high with leaves in a whorl of three, each in the shape of a
rhomboid-circular, at apexes where single flowers emerge. Outer
perianth lobes, 1.5-2.0cm in length each, are composed of three, and
the color is green or brownish-purple; inner perianth segments
usually do not exist. There are many variations in flower color and
shape. Bloom time: April-May. |
