Diplomorpha sikokiana
is a shrub that grows to 1-2m in height, inhabiting sunny forests in
hilly districts. Its bark is dark brown and glossy, with dense
hairs. Leaves alternate in a distichous way. Blades are 1-4cm in
width, in the shape of an ovate, with margins entire and dense, and
adpressed, silky hairs on upper and lower surfaces. Flowers, 7-20 in
number, attach to branch tops; the calyx tubes, approximately 8mm
long, are cleft into four parts, with the outsides having dense,
appressed hairs. Bloom time: May-June. |
