Physalis angulata, an
annual herb originating in tropical America, its ridged stem grows
to 20-30cm tall. Leaves are alternate, 3-7cm long, 2-5cm wide, broad
oval, with tips pointed, wavy serrations on margins. Axils emerge
peduncles and set around 8mm-in-diameter single light yellow
calyciform flowers. Calyxes are short and tubular and shallowly
cleft in five. Sap fruit is spherical, about 1cm across, and covers
itself with a calyx that has significantly grown after the flower.
