Ardisia crispa,
a small evergreen shrub in evergreen
forests, grows to 20-70cm in height, generally not branching. Leaves
are of alternate phyllotaxis; blades measure 8-20cm long, 1.5-4cm
wide, narrow oval to lanceolate-shaped, with pointed tips, obtuse,
wavy serrations on margins, surfaces emerald green and glossy, and
both surfaces with no hairs. Axils with ten approximately 7-8mm
across white flowers. Peduncles, 4-7cm long, extend diagonally
upward, corollas are deeply cut into five, and the lobes bend
backward with glandular dots outside. Drupes are 6-7mm in diameter,
spherical, mature red in about November, and remain until around
April. Bloom time: September. |
