Arisaema japonicum,
variable in form and color, is a perennial herb that inhabits damp
forest floors in mountainous regions, growing to 50-60cm in height.
It has two leaves with many pedately divided oblong leaflets, as
well as oblate-shaped corms underground. Pseudostems are generally
purple patches of clouds that may remind one of a pit viper. Spathes
and leaves open simultaneously, the former ranging from green to
purple, with white stripes. Bloom time April-June. |
