Arisaema thunbergii ssp. thunderbergii, a
perennial 30-40cm in height, inhabits damp, somewhat shady places in
coastal to hilly districts with single leaves. The leaves are
pedately divided, measuring 8-25 cm in length, with 13-15 leaflets
that have pointed tips. Midribs in the leaflets look white,
overlapping with extended white strips. Spathes measure 5-8cm long,
adoral parts are dark purple and project out, and limb edges are
gradually narrower and longer toward the tips. The appendages in the
spathes are incredibly long, tapering to extend far beyond the
leaflets and bending down to the ground. Bloom time: April-May. |
