Arisaema thunbergii ssp. thunderbergii, a perennial
30-40cm in height, inhabits damp, somewhat shady places in coastal
to hilly districts with single leaves. The leaves divide themselves
pedately into 8-25cm-in-length 13-15 leaflets with pointed tips.
Midribs in the leaflets look white, overlapping with extended white
strips. Spathes measure 5-8cm long, adoral parts, dark purple,
project out, and limb edges gradually narrower and longer toward the
tips. Appendages in the spathes are incredibly long; they taper to
go far over the leaflets and bend down to the ground. Bloom time:
April-May. |
