Hydrangea serrata, a
deciduous shrub growing to 1-2m in height, occurs along valleys or
damp slopes in mountainous regions. Leave, of oblong phyllotaxis,
whose blades are 10-15cm long, 5-18cm wide, long oblong to oval,
with tips long-ly pointed, bases cuneate to circular, and margins
with serrations varying from somewhat coarse triangular to wavy.
Branch tips give birth to 5-10cm-in-diameter cymes and set
ornamental flowers that encircle bisexual flowers. The decorative
flowers (4-sepaled units) vary from pink and white to blue. Bloom
time: June-July. |
