Limnophila sessiflora is
a perennial herb that inhabits paddy fields, shallow marshy places,
or ponds; rhizomes crawl in the mud. Leaves above the water's
surface are in whorls of 5-8, 1-2cm long, 3-7mm wide, and pinnately
deeply cut in, while in-water leaves tear themselves in a thread
way. Axils on above waters' leaves generate small red-purple labiate
flowers; calyxes are deeply cut in five and have vellus hairs.
Capsules measure about 4mm long and are spherically ovoid. Bloom
time: August-October. |
