Lysimachia mauritiana is
a biennial herb of 10-40cm in height, occurring in sandy soil or
rocks on seashores. Stems are cylindrical and ridged, often tinging
red. Leaves are alternate, 2-5cm long, 1-2cm wide, in an obovate or
oblanceolate shape, thick, and glossy. Stem tips emerge short
racemes and singly set white flowers aside bracts. Corollas are
1-1.2cm in diameter and cleft deeply in five. The fruit (capsule) is
spherical, 4-6mm in diameter. Bloom time: May-June. |
