Saussurea
maximowiczii is a perennial herb inhabiting damp places around
marshes or grasslands in hilly districts, its stems standing
0.5-1.5m. Radical leaves with long petioles still are alive during
flowering time, and on-stem leaves are of alternate phyllotaxis, in
the shape of a long oblong, 11-30cm in length, and they are
pinnatipartite. Shoot apexes bear corymbs in which many red-purple
flowers come; the flower heads measure approximately 1cm in
diameter; involucres are tubular, 1-1.4cm in length. Bloom time:
September-October. |
