Saussurea pulchella is
a biennial found in grasslands in mountainous regions; stems grow to
0.4-1.5m in height and branch well on upper parts. Leaves are in an
alternate arrangement, in the shape of a lanceolate or broad
lanceolate, and leaves are deeply cleft in a pinnate way on lower
portions. On both leaf sides, visible are vellus hairs and glandular
dots. Flower heads are red-purple,1.2-1.6cm in diameter; bracts are
campaniform; on tips on involucral bracts are red-purple appendixes.
Florets are all tubular. Bloom time: August-October. |
