Silene armeria,
a 30-60cm-tall European annual to biennial introduced long ago,
grows wild in nearby coastal locations or on roadsides, tinged
somewhat glaucous throughout. Leaves are 3-5cm long, in the shape of
an ovate to ovate-like lanceolate. One centimeter across, flowers
densely bloom on branch tips, ranging from red to light red and
occasionally white. Bloom time: May-July. |
