Stellaria sessiliflora,
a perennial herb, occurs in damp places, like spaces on mountain
rivers; stems crawl on the ground, and upper parts slope upward to
20-40cm in height. Leaves are yellow-green, of opposite phyllotaxis,
in the shape of a broad ovate. 1-3.5cm in length, with bases
somewhat cordate; surfaces with no hairs, and the backsides have
some micritrichias on veins. Around 1cm across, white flowers come
at the apexes of stalks that emerged from axils. As each of the five
petals deeply cuts in, they look 10-petalled. Bloom time: May-July. |
