Viburnum carlesii var.
bitchiuensis is a deciduous shrub found in forests in
mountainous regions, sparsely branching and growing to approximately
3m in height. The branches are purple-brown. Leaves are of alternate
phyllotaxis, 3-10cm in length, 2-7cm in width, in the shape of an
obovate to narrow oblong, tips pointed, and bases round or
heart-shaped. Leaf margins are serrated. On the branch tops, there
emerges 3-6cm-across cymose inflorescence, in which many fragrant
white flowers tinged with light red blooms, the corollas measuring
1-1.5cm in diameter, 8-10mm, cleft in five, and open flat. Bloom
time: May-June. |
