Viburnum odoratissimum var.
awabuki is an evergreen tree growing up to 20m in height;
leaves being opposite or with three blades in whole, each 7-20cm in
length, 4-8cm in width, glossy, margins are entire or somewhat
wave-likely serrated. Petioles are 1-4.5 cm in length. Branch tops
emerge panicles of 5-16cm long and 8-16cm-wide. The flowers are
white, 6-8mm across, and the corollas cleft in five. Fruit (drupe)
measures 7-9mm oblong to oval, matures in red in August -October,
and turns fully mature to black. Bloom time: March-May. |
