Viburnum odoratissimum
var. awabuki is an evergreen tree growing up to 20m in height;
leaves being opposite or with three blades in whole, each 7-20cm
in length, 4-8cm in width, glossy, margins are entire or
somewhat wave-likely serrated. Petioles are1-4.5cm in length. Branch
tops emerge panicles of 5-16cm-long and 8-16cm-wide. Flowers are
white, 6-8mm across, the corollas being cleft in five. Fruit (drupe)
measure 7-9mm oblong to oval, mature in red in August -October, and
turn full mature to black. Bloom time: March-May. |
