Allium monanthum is
a delicate, perennial herb inhabiting bright forests in
fields and mountains. Leaves, two in number, emerge from
ovate bulbs at the bases of flower stalks, 10-20cm in
length, with a cross-section in the shape of a crescent.
Flower stalks, delivered from the bulbs, grow to 6-10cm in
height, bearing single, occasionally two, white or slightly
red-tinged flowers. Perianth lobes are 4-5mm long,
long-oblong, or oblong-ovate. Many individuals lack stamens
and reproduce by division of their bulbs. Bloom time:
March-May. |
