Euonymus chibae
is a small evergreen tree inhabiting coastal forests, with green,
4-ridges. Leaves are of alternate phyllotaxis, 3-8cm long, 1-5cm
wide, in the shape of an oblong or oval, with tip abruptly tapering
off to points, bases circular or cuneate, and margins with shallow
serrations except for the portions close to headquarters. One or 2-3
small yellow-green flowers bloom in cymes that emerge at
bud-scale-scars on the current year's branches. The flowers measure
about 8mm across; petals are 4, circular, stamens 4, and sepals 4,
hemispherical. Peduncles measure 5-7mm long. Bloom time: April-June. |
