Lamium amplexicaule,
a 10-30cm-in-height biennial found in fields or roadsides, with
leaves of opposite phyllotaxis, 1-2cm long fan-shaped orbicular with
obtuse serrations on margins. About 2cm long-long, red-purple
ligulate flowers set themselves thickly on the stem's upper axils;
among those flowers mingling many cleistogamous ones, smaller than
the normals, that fruit staying the state of buds. The flowers are
magenta, flecked with darker spots. Bloom time: March-June. |
