Ranunculus muricatus,
a native of Europe, grows 15-50cm tall and is found in damp places,
such as paths between paddies. Stems are sparsely branched at the
bases, and radical and on-stem leaves are cleft in three and have
serrated margins. Alternate phyllotaxis is leaves on the upper parts
of the stems. Yellow, 5-petaled, 1.5cm in diameter flowers are
placed singly at leaf axils on the upper portions. Fruit resulted in
an aggregation of as many as 20 achenes. Bloom time: April-June. |
