Aster spathulifolius / Darumagiku ダルマギク

Aster spathulifolius is a perennial herb that inhabits coastal rocks along the coast, characterized by the Tsushima Current, with long, glandular hairs throughout. Stems are ligneous at the basal portions; limbs without setting flowers deliver 3-9cm-long, 1.5- 5.5 cm-wide obovate-like spoon-shaped leaves in a rosette way. On the other hand, stems that expect flowers to branch well and grow to approximately 25cm tall, with leaves of an oblong-like, spatulate shape. Flower heads measure 3.5-4cm in diameter, with ligulate corollas that are blue-purple. Bloom time: October-November.
