Rubus microphyllus is
a deciduous shrub, 50-100cm tall, found in forest edges or
wastelands in fields and mountains, with many small prickles on
stems and branches. Leaves are alternate, in the shape of a broad
ovate, and generally cut into three. Blades on stems with flowers
are small, 2-5cm long, but on non-flower branches, they are large,
6-10cm long. Leaf margins are serrated, and either side of the
surface is hairless. There are small prickles on the veins and
petioles. Flowers, white, 2-2.5cm across, bloom facing upward.
Fruit, approximately 1cm across, is spherical and matures to a deep
red. Bloom time: April-May. |
