Viola brevistipulata var. minor
is a small perennial herb found in grasslands
or landslide scars in the Chugoku Mountains at over 800m above sea
level. Stems turn a red-purple hue, with numerous dense, short hairs
surrounding them. Leaves are thick and glossy, with veins that sink
in low, gentle serrations along the margins.
Flowers are yellow, 10-15mm long in diameter, and sometimes, tinge
red-purple on the petal's backsides. Bloom time: April-June. |
