Viola sieboldii
is a miniature herb that inhabits grasslands, deciduous forests, or
the edges of evergreen forests, ranging from low coastal areas to
highlands. Leaves, 1-3cm in length, are ovate to triangular-ovate,
frequently with white markings on their upper surfaces, and the
undersides are purplish. Flowers are white; the peduncles grow
higher than the leaf level to 4-7cm in length; petals are 7-8mm and
have hairs at the bases of the side petals. The lips have
conspicuous purple stripes. Spurs are 2-3mm in length. Bloom time:
April-May. |
